Weekend Workshops
This 2 day workshop is designed for artists to reconnect with their art,
to break patterns and establish new habits.
We perform a number of expressive exercises which evoke our unique gestures. We take time to review and understand our art and consider the imaginations of those in the group. We cover a variety of techniques and materials and speak about motives to clarify that which truly ignites us. We explore a variety of drawing exercises to relax, free up our minds, release tension and connect with materials. We delve into abstract painting techniques using as many variations of materials as we can in our allotted time.
This workshop lasts 3 hours each day. The artists are expected to bring the necessary materials.The course fee is 15'000 isk. per person per day with minimum participation of 10 persons.
What does it mean to be free? Artistically and otherwise, it is to be your unedited genuine self. What makes us creatively authentic? It is gesture and it is content. When you are at ease feeling free of inhibitions you create your most authentic work.
Even feeling free requires maintenance.
LOOSENING UP practises that improve fluidity
Materials needed: Drawing paper (all colors) various sizes A3 to A1, willow coal & light coloured pastels
11:00 - 12:15 Mastering Materials
- Illustrate the music and find values of the material
- Draw with eyes closed to acoustic stimulation
- Draw the view of window what you see
- Set up a still life, examine what makes it interesting
- Turn your easel away, draw what you remember
- Draw the still life as you see it

12:30 - 13:30 Fast portrait drawing 10 x 3 minutes face
Gather acrylic paints that you don't use
14:30 - 16:00 hrs PAINTING TO Acoustics ABSTRACT APPROACHES then silence. Materials needed: Large paper 80 x 100 xm and acrylics

Recycling Materials
Gather cardboard, old canvasses, sandpaper, white and dark primer paints, paints, brushes
